Scientific interest is focused on the development of novel synthetic approaches for the surface modification of advanced granular and fibrous carbon materials and their application as:

  • acid-base catalysts as an alternative to liquid acids for dehydration, esterification, alkylation, isomerization etc.
  • ion-exchange materials for water preparation - softening and desalination
  • catalyst carriers for various acid-base and red-ox reactions
  • sorbents for extraction of heavy metals from wastewaters in different industries

Methodological and Technical Expertise

  • Synthesis of carbon materials with grafted CFx-, SO3H- and NAlk2-groups
  • All experimental approaches for characterization of modified carbon materials by physical and physicochemical methods
  • All experimental approaches for characterization of acid-base and red-ox catalysts
  • Synthesis of high purity inorganic glasses
  • Quantum-chemical modeling of carbon materials
